Trekking Update – 21 October 2026: Which Popular Treks Are Open in Nepal?

Latest update on trek accessibility in Nepal. Langtang Valley, Annapurna Circuit, and ABC are now OPEN. Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley remain closed for ordinary trekkers.

TREKKING UPDATE – 21 OCTOBER 2026

Which popular treks are OPEN, and which are still CLOSED?

✅ OPEN TREKS

1. LANGTANG VALLEY TREK

Surprisingly, Langtang is fully open again! The entire trek has been walkable for about 3–4 days now, with only a slight change to the original starting point.

Very few trekkers seem to know this yet, so you'll probably have much of this beautiful valley to yourself. A wonderful trek and definitely worth considering!

2. ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT

The entire Annapurna Circuit is open again, from Besisahar via Manang, Thorong La Pass and Muktinath, all the way to Nayapul, including Tilicho and Naar-Phu.

Road access has also been restored. The circuit is rather busy at the moment, but finding accommodation in the lodges should still be possible.

3. ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP (ABC)

The ABC Trek never really closed and remains fully accessible. However, it's currently quite crowded.

⛔ STILL CLOSED FOR ORDINARY TREKKERS

MANASLU CIRCUIT

The section between Jagat and Philim is definitely NOT suitable for ordinary trekkers at present.

Unfortunately, that's particularly frustrating because the rest of the circuit is now walkable, although a few sections may still be rather adventurous.

Essentially, we're talking about just a few kilometres that still need to be properly restored.

When might Manaslu reopen?

My personal estimate is that it could happen relatively soon, possibly even before the end of October.

But please understand that this is only an educated guess based on my experience of how long trail repairs usually take. I don't have detailed information about the exact current progress of the work.

And one thing is certain: As soon as the Manaslu Circuit can genuinely and responsibly be called OPEN again, I'll post an update immediately.

Until then, please don't confuse a makeshift emergency route with a properly reopened trekking trail.

⛔ TSUM VALLEY – CLOSED

Unfortunately, the situation in Tsum Valley is considerably worse. Several sections of the trail have been completely destroyed, some over considerable distances. Bridges have also been washed away, and rebuilding them will require a lot of time and effort.

Sadly, I don't expect Tsum Valley to reopen for trekkers this season.

Stay safe and enjoy the Himalayas! 🤗🙏🏻
